Medicine horn 'naga marsarang'
Batak, Indonesien
horn, wood, animal hair, encrusted dark brown patina, stopper in shape of a human figure riding on a water buffalo (?), coiffure of animal hair, leather strap for support, min. dam., minor missing parts, on base;
after his magic staff and the magic book 'pustaha', the medicine horns 'naga marsarang', also known as 'sahan', where the most important ritual paraphernalia of the 'datu' priest. These remarkable objects were used to store the magical substance known as 'raja ni pagar'.
