WAGNER RICHARD: (1813-1883) German Composer. An excellent A.L.S., `Richard Wagner´, two pages, 8vo, Vienna, 21st October 1863, to a Capellmeister, in German. Wagner refers to a concert invitation and states in part `You surely know that I was invited by Mr. Heinrich Poches, on behalf of His Majesty Prince of Hohenzollern-Hechingen, at the end of last winter, to give a concert in Löwendorf. For several reasons and being exhausted I had to apply to postpone the concert to the beginning of this year winter season.´ further suggesting a date for the concert, saying `Now I kindly ask you to inform His Majesty about my willing readiness. To my message I add the wish that the concert would take place as soon as possible, meaning in the second half of November…in the early winter, and this way I would be able to return to my work as soon as possible and remain with it uninterruptedly. I would be very glad if the concert can take place during the period from 20th to 30th November. I´ve heard that at that time the Prince's Court concerts will start again, and therefore I hope I am not making a miss request.´ A good musical content letter. With blank integral leaf. Folded. VG £4000-6000 Constantin, Prince of Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1801-1869) last Prince of Hohenzollern-Hechingen.
