Rare French Cavalry Flintlock Pistol for Officers, M1777 by ‘Maubeuge’ Ca. 1779 - 1787. Single shot flintlock pistol with smooth walnut half stock and round barrel in Cal. 18mm. Brass lockbox signed ‘Maubeuge’, brass trigger guard, butt-cap and iron cock. Iron belthook and ramrod. Length: 32 cm. [II-] NOTE This first type of Model 1777 was produced at the armoury at Maubeuge and was first introduced in 1779 to replacing the Model 1763/1766. The pistol came with a belt hook, which was retained by a mounting screw under the bronze frame. Between 1779 and 1787, Maubeuge produced 7,500 pairs. These early first type of Model 1777 were also produced in Saint-Etienne (production: 14,454 pairs) and in Charleville (production: 15,342 pairs). A Flintlock Eprouvette, France, circa 1730 Walnut fullstock with iron lock plate, trigger guard and brass grip-cap. The stock mounted with an iron ratchet disc, numbered 1 to 12 for graduation and working against a spring cursor. Length: 22 cm. [III]

French Cavalry Percussion Pistol, M1857 This pistol is conversion from flintlock to percussion by the Mutzig Arsenal. The barrel in Cal. 17.6 mm. Smooth stock with bronze grip-cap. The hammer with shot caps above the chimney. Latter screwed onto the aimed weight, the ramrod with a tulip-shaped head, and the pod at the end of the ramrod contains 2.35 grams of powder. This weapon uses the regulatory cartridge of 1857. Brass mouthpiece, grip-cap, trigger guard and the fittings are in bronze, the grip-cap carries at its end a ring which makes it possible to fix a strap, thus avoiding the loss of the weapon. On the stock a carved text: “Strassburg ist Wieder Deutsch 1940” (= “Strassburg is German again 1940”). Length: 36 cm. Habsburg Percussion Pistol for Cavalry, M1854 Single shot percussion pistol produced at one of the Austrians arsenals. Smoot walnut half-stock with iron barrel in Cal. 14 mm and iron barrel band. Flat Iron lockplate, stamped with a double-headed eagle and numbered 864. Vaulted iron cock, thumb plate, trigger guard, smooth grip-cap and iron sight. Length: 41 cm. [II+] NOTE It should be noted that no space was created for the loading ramrods in these guns, as was common in other European flintlock and percussion pistols. French "Boissy" Pinfire Target Pistol with Long Barrel Ca. 1860. A highly decorative single shot pin-fire pistol with a very long smooth barrel, smooth bore in 10.6mm (11 calibre). Fine engraved breech and trigger guard with decorative flowers, foliage and the maker’s name ‘BOISSY’ engraved under the barrel on the right side. Wooden factory carved ebony grip with iron grip plate signed “R. Gonon, Avignon”. Total length: 42.5 cm. Length: barrel: 30.5 cm. [I] NOTE High Quality French pinfire pistol, either manufactured or retailed by P. Boissy This pistol is very similar to a French Lefaucheux manufactured pistol. This pistol is Civil War Era, and were very popular due to the fact Pinfire cartridges were easier and much faster to load than a muzzle loading black powder firearm. P. Boissy was listed in 1879 in St. Etienne as a Gunmaker on the Rue de la Badouillere 34. He exhibited fine firearms and ‘Pinfires’ at the World Fair in Paris in 1855. An Afghan Jezail flintlock Rifle, ca. 1850 Teak full stock with the curved grip, inlaid with bone decorations. The round Damascus barrel mounted with copper bands on the wooden full stock. Brass trigger guard and curved iron lockplate, cock and ramrod. The lockplate made from recycled British army gun parts and dated ‘1818’. Length: 146 cm.

A Georgian Percussion Rifle, ca. 1850 The rifle with octagonal merging to round Damascus barrel, ending in a cannon-shaped muzzle with smooth bore. Wooden full stock with fine ‘Mother-of-Pearl’ and ebony inlaid, brass details, horn nose and butt cap. Smooth iron lockplate, trigger guard, cock and ramrod. The lockplate stamped with the British ‘standing lion with crown ’. Length: 135 cm. [III] NOTE Georgia was an important center of weaponry. Firearms produced in Georgia were high quality and were popular among their neighbours. Most weapons were made with recycled British army gun parts. SEE ALSO The Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia. This museum kept approximately 4000 entities of weapons and more than 1000 of them are firearms. The weapons that once belong to the Georgian Kings like Bakar, Archil, Erekle II, Solomon I, Solomon II and Giorgi XII are the most impressive in this collection.

A Saudi Jezail Percussion Rifle, ca. 1890 The wooden full stock decorated with large and small engraved silver plates, copper wire and smooth round barrel. The grip with fine engraved iron butt cap and decorated with over a hundred small Rat tooth. Brass trigger guard, iron lock plate, cock and original ramrod. The trigger plate stamped with ‘VR’ under British Crown and ‘1857 Tower’. (Old restorations) Length: 134 cm. [III]

British Epee Sword for Infantry Officers, M1796 This regulation infantry officer’s comes with a bronze knucklebow, guard plates with one folding side guard in working condition and grip completely bound with twisted silver wire. Short French Artillery Sword, M1832 Also called ‘Glaive’ with heavy gilt bronze hilt and small horizontal guard in one piece. The grip with stepped scale pattern and relief of a raised rooster on the pommel. This distinctive steel ‘Gladius’ type has a double edged blade with twin and single fullers on each side. Short French Infantry Sword, M1832 Early 19th century, Napoleonic model, so-called ‘Glaive’. Handle, pommel and crossguard in one piece with a heavy gilt bronze ribbed hilt, smooth pommel and a small horizontal guard, stamped with no. ‘351’ and decorated with classic concentric circles on either side. Double edged blade, stamped: ‘TALABOT Fs 1832- PARIS’ and median ridge ending in a carp's tongue. The sword has a bronze mounted black leather scabbard. The locket numbered 884. French Navy Epee Sword for Officers, M1837 With a bronze knucklebow and guard plates with relief of an anchor. Strait triangular blade, blade moderate, superficially spotty. Finely engraved bronze container with locking button, with a bar and asymmetric stitch cloth. Made the third-side stitch cloth with nautical decor, sleeve made of horn and with intact wire wrapping.
