Provenance Private collection, France While better known as an erotic photographer, Charles-François Jeandel initially trained as a painter in Paris, submitting works to the Paris Salon of 1889, before moving to the Charente, where he became conservator at the Musée de la société archéologique et historique de la Charente. He is known for his cyanotype photos of bondaged women. An album of his photos are in the collection of the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
