A Transitional ormolu-mounted tulipwood, kingwood and green-stained wood marquetry bonheur-du-jour by R.V.L.C. Roger Vandercruse dit Lacroix, third quarter 18th century
Inlaid overall with lavish marquetry depicting tea ceremony utensils and flowering vases, the upper section with dentilled shaped border above two doors centred by a well, the lower section top depicting writing utensils, above a long drawer with Greek key ormolu mount enclosing a green leather lined sliding writing surface and encrier, above cabriole legs headed by chutes 'en consoles' and terminating in upswept sabots, stamped: 'RVLC' and 'JME', 65cm wide, 41cm deep, 110cm high (25 1/2in wide, 16in deep, 43in high).
Roger Vandercruse dit Lacroix, reçu Maître ébéniste in 1755.
