Late Ming Dynasty
Both standing on a small pedestal, one figure holding a tablet, the second holding a scroll, dressed in thin robes falling in ample folds around the arms and legs, the faces with a serious expression.
33cm (13in) and 33.6cm (13 1/4in) high (2).

Collection of Max Müller (1867-1960), German consul in Hankow, acquired in China between 1905 and 1912, thence by descent to his daughter Irmgard Müller-Doertenbach (1909-2011), acquired from her collection by the present owner
