1938 Talbot Lago T23 Major Cabriolet COLLECTION PAUL THANRY Carte grise française Châssis n°89907 Moteur n° 23231 - Equipée du moteur " Grand Sport " - Belle restauration ancienne de qualité - Carrosserie d'une rare élégance Apparu dans la gamme en 1937, le type T23 (pour 23cv fiscaux) était équipé d'un puissant moteur 4 litres à 7 paliers, qui pouvait atteindre 115cv dans sa version " Grand Sport " dotée de 2 carburateurs. Il pouvait disposer de 3 châssis d'un empattement différent, le " Major " venant s'intégrer entre le court " Baby " et le long " Master ". D'après un document de présentation fourni par le précédent propriétaire, ce beau cabriolet fut attribué, à la Libération, au Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny comme voiture de fonction. Il aurait ensuite été vendu par les Domaines à un amateur de Metz qui l'aurait stocké une trentaine d'année, avant de le céder à un collectionneur qui confia, en 1983, sa restauration aux réputés Ets Lecoq pour une réfection complète, portant sur la mécanique, la carrosserie et la sellerie. En 1989, il passe aux mains d'un collectionneur de Seine et Marne puis, en 1993, aurait été repeint dans sa teinte actuelle par le restaurateur G. Morel à Provins. Son précédent propriétaire a acheté la voiture en 2000 et a fait refaire le moteur, ainsi qu'en témoignent quelques photos. Cette belle automobile a rejoint la collection en 2001. La tôlerie est bien alignée, seul un petit enfoncement de l'aile arrière droite et de la porte conducteur pourront être repris. La belle sellerie en cuir rouge affiche une patine agréable. Cette intéressante version équipée du moteur " Grand Sport " a été redémarrée en 2021 suite à un arrêt d'une dizaine d'année, elle devra bénéficier d'une révision générale avant de reprendre la route. Puissant, élégant et disposant d'une finition raffinée, ce cabriolet est particulièrement désirable. Merci de noter que le registre des cartes grises indique que le châssis 89907 a été immatriculé en 1938 en tant que conduite intérieure 6 places. French title Chassis n°89907 Engine n° 23231 - Equipped with the " Grand Sport " engine - Superb high quality older restoration - Coachwork with a rare elegance Making its appearance in the range in 1937, the Type T23 (23hp tax band) was equipped with a powerful 4-litre, 7 main-bearing engine, capable of producing 115 bhp in its " Grand Sport " two carburettor version. The chassis was available in 3 different wheelbases and the " Major " was the mid-length, between the shorter " Baby " and the longer " Master ". According to a presentation document provided by the previous owner, this handsome cabriolet was assigned to Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny as an official car at the time of the liberation. At some point after this, it is believed to have been sold by the authorities to an enthusiast from Metz, who stored it for about thirty years. The T23 then sold to a collector who, in 1983, entrusted his car to the renowned Lecoq establishment to be fully refurbished, mechanically and cosmetically. In 1989, it passed into the hands of a collector from Seine et Marne. Then, in 1993, it was repainted its current colour by the restorer G. Morel in Provins. The previous owner acquired the car in 2000 and had the engine rebuilt, as shown in various photos. This lovely automobile joined the collection in 2001. The panels are well aligned, with just a minor dent in the rear right-hand wing and the driver's door, which could be repaired. The superb red leather upholstery has an appealing patina. This interesting version with " Grand Sport " engine was started up in 2021 after being unused for ten years, and will require a full service before taking to the road again. Powerful, elegant and with a refined finish, this is a particularly desirable cabriolet.
