Avec le temps, le second sera qualifié de "cabriolet" car il répond au confort de ce type de carrosserie plutôt qu'au caractère spartiate d'un vrai roadster. Équipée à l'arrière d'un spider accueillant deux personnes supplémentaires, c'est une voiture extrêmement séduisante car elle combine toutes les qualités routières de la Traction à une ligne très pure et un agrément d'utilisation très supérieur à la berline, grâce à son habitacle découvrable. La version 11 B, qui bénéficie de la carrosserie large, est particulièrement attrayante car spacieuse et pouvant accueillir trois personnes à l'avant. L'attrait du cabriolet Traction s'est traduit par la réalisation de répliques, ce qui rend les versions authentiques rares et recherchés. Au sein de la collection d'André Trigano, ce cabriolet Traction 11 B occupe une place très particulière car c'est ce modèle qui a déclenché sa passion pour la marque Citroën. Ce déclic s'est fait pendant la seconde Guerre Mondiale. Alors âgé de 14 ans et après l'exode de sa famille vers le sud de la France dans un torpédo C4, André Trigano s'est engagé dans les partisans. A la fin du conflit, il est tombé en arrêt devant un cabriolet Citroën Traction 11 CV : "Il était immatriculé en Belgique et avait été abandonné dans un garage d'hôtel où il était resté. C'était une voiture magnifique, que les FTP ont utilisé à la Libération ; il était conduit par les plus gradés, et moi je me contentais d'une 402, qui n'avançait pas..." La vue de ce cabriolet l'impressionne durablement et l'attire vers la marque au double chevron. Ainsi, quelques années plus tard, il repère un cabriolet Traction 11 B comme celui dont il rêve. Il part à la recherche du propriétaire et découvre qu'il s'agit d'un pharmacien de Foix, du nom de Magnol, qui a acheté neuf ce beau cabriolet. Caché pendant la guerre, il a pu échapper aux réquisitions des occupants et des libérateurs, et a même été sauvé d'un vol. Magnol se prend d'affection pour André Trigano à tel point qu'il le désigne comme bénéficiaire du cabriolet après son décès. C'est ainsi que la voiture rejoint en 1978 la collection Trigano. Aujourd'hui, le compteur affiche 23 264 km, ce qui est, selon son propriétaire, son kilométrage d'origine car M. Magnol ne roulait qu'occasionnellement avec son automobile. Depuis, ce cabriolet a fait l'objet d'une restauration complète par l'équipe d'André Trigano. Les planchers et bas de caisse ont été refaits et la mécanique a été remise en état. La voiture est de teinte noire, complétée par les roues Pilote à rayons plats et dont la teinte rouge vient rehausser l'ensemble. La sellerie a été refaite en cuir rouge, la même couleur que le tableau de bord, ce qui rend l'habitacle original et accueillant. Un volant accessoire apporte sa touche de fantaisie. Pour André Trigano, le cabriolet Traction 11 large correspond à la "plus réussie de toutes les Citroën produites." De la part d'un passionné de la marque, ce n'est pas un mince compliment. A cette réussite esthétique, le présent cabriolet ajoute une superbe histoire, une grande rareté et une très belle présentation. Il fait donc partie des Citroën les plus désirables, qu'il s'agisse de l'utiliser régulièrement ou de compléter une collection. In time, the latter would be called a " cabriolet " as it offered a level of comfort more in keeping with this type of body, rather than the more spartan character of a genuine roadster. With a spider body at the rear accommodating two extra passengers, this was a highly attractive vehicle, presenting all the road-going qualities of the Traction in a beautifully styled car that, being convertible, offered a superior driving experience to that of the saloon. The version 11B, with a wide body, had the added benefit of extra space with room for three in the front. The appeal of the Traction cabriolet has resulted in the creation of replicas, making genuine examples rare and highly desirable. Within André Trigano's collection, the Traction 11 B cabriolet holds a very special place, being the model that triggered his passion for the Citroën marque, during the Second World War. After his family fled to the South of France in a C4 torpedo, when he was fourteen years old, André Trigano joined the Resistance. At the end of the conflict, he found himself in the presence of a Citroën Traction 11 CV cabriolet: " It was registered in Belgium and had been abandoned in a hotel garage, where it remained. It was a magnificent car, used by the FTP during the Liberation; it had been driven by the highest ranking officials, while I contented myself with a 402 that didn't move... " The sight of this cabriolet had a lasting effect on him, attracting him to the double chevron marque. And so, some years later, he spotted a Traction 11 B cabriolet like the one he had fallen in love with. He set off in search of the owner and discovered him to be pharmacist from Foix, by the name of Magnol, who had acquired this beautiful cabriolet new. Hidden away during the war, the car had avoided the requisition notes of both occupiers and liberators, as well as an attempted theft. Magnol warmed to Trigano and designated him the beneficiary of the convertible on his death, which is how the car came to be in the Trigano Collection in 1978. Today, the odometer reads 23 264 km that, according to its owner, is correct, as Mr Magnol only drove his car very occasionally. Since that time, the cabriolet has been completely restored by André Trigano's team. The floors and sills have been renewed and the mechanical elements restored. The car is painted black, complemented by Pilote flat-spoked wheels in red. It has been re-upholstered in red leather, the same colour as the dashboard, giving the interior an original and welcoming appeal. A different steering wheel adds a touch of embellishment. For André Trigano, the Traction 11 cabriolet was the " most successful Citroën ever produced." From someone so passionate about the marque, this is no small compliment. Adding to its aesthetic success, this particular cabriolet offers a wonderful history, great rarity and superb presentation, making it one of the most desirable Citroëns, either for regular use or to complete a collection.
