Achetée en novembre 1995 par son actuel propriétaire, notre voiture de 1953 fut longtemps immobilisée avant qu'une remise en route ne soit récemment effectuée chez le spécialiste Americo Automobile en 2018. La partie mécanique a ainsi fait l'objet d'une très sérieuse remise à niveau, le montant global des travaux réalisés s'élevant à près de 20 000 €. Le détail des interventions réalisées figure au dossier et comprend notamment, le surfaçage de la culasse, le remplacement des pistons et coussinets de bielles, de l'échappement complet et la réfection du système de freinage. Côté carrosserie, la peinture bicolore noire et grise très certainement refaite dans le passé méritera une réfection afin de retrouver plus d'éclat et d'homogénéité. La patine de la sellerie ainsi que des boiseries sont quant à elles très agréables, les moquettes qui ont été remplacées sont en bon état de présentation. L'essai réalisé nous a permis de profiter du toit ouvrant et du confort d'utilisation si chers à la marque Bentley, son six cylindres de 4.5L accouplé à une boîte automatique lui assurant couple et douceur. Un symbole de luxe présenté sans réserve à ne pas manquer. Purchased in November 1995 by its current owner, this 1953 model R Type was not used for a long time, before a restart and service was accomplished by specialist Americo Automobile in 2018. The mechanical part has been the subject of a very serious overhaul, with the total amount of work done amounting to nearly 20,000 €. The details of all the work done is on record and includes, in particular, the shaving of the cylinder head, the replacement of the pistons and bearings of the connecting rods, the complete exhaust was redone, and the restoration of the braking system was carried out as well. As regards the bodywork, the two-tone black and grey paint, certainly redone in the past, will need to be refurbished in order to regain radiance and homogeneity. The patina of the upholstery and the woodwork is very pleasant, and the carpets that have been replaced are in good condition. Our test drive made us enjoy the sunroof and comfort of use so typical of the Bentley brand, its 4.5L six-cylinder, mated to an automatic transmission, ensures torque and refinement. On offer at no reserve, this symbol of luxury is an opportunity not to be missed.
