Coques en acajou aux vernis parfaits, intérieurs en cuir, tableaux de bord s'inspirant des voitures américaines de l'époque font des Riva le nec plus ultra des bateaux à moteur. Ils étaient très disputés dans les années 50 et 60 par toute la jet set internationale, les stars de cinéma, les grandes fortunes. Dès son retour des Etats-Unis après-guerre, Carlo Riva arrive à convaincre son père, propriétaire du chantier naval de Sarnico, sur le Lac d'Iséo, de construire les premiers Motor Launch à pare-brise à pans coupés, directement inspirés des bateaux américains, principalement des célèbres Chris Craft. Le chantier connaît alors une expansion impressionnante, avec des commandes qui affluent du monde entier. Dans les années 50 et 60, Riva devient alors une marque de référence en matière de canots automobiles. Ce Riva Super Florida, numéro de coque 461, est livré neuf en 1960 par le distributeur Riva de Monaco à son premier propriétaire, Monsieur Bora, équipé du moteur Chrysler 177 chevaux. Régulièrement utilisé sur la Côte d'Azur, il est vendu au second et actuel propriétaire, un amateur belge, en 2012. Le bateau, alors à l'état de quasi-épave, est envoyé chez le célèbre spécialiste belge des Riva, l'Atelier Classic Boats, pour une restauration totale avec démontage complet de la coque, réfection de la totalité des boiseries, vernissage aux multiples couches comme il se doit. Bref, il s'agit d'un travail sans limite de coût qui a duré deux années de 2012 à 2014, lors duquel le moteur d'origine, trop ancien, sera changé pour un moteur V8 neuf GM développant 320 chevaux. Ce splendide Riva n'est que très peu sorti depuis, simplement lors de manifestations et se présente dans un état " prêt à naviguer " selon le propriétaire actuel. Il sera livré, de surcroît, avec sa remorque, ce qui en facilitera son transport au futur acquéreur. Vendu sans prix de réserve, il s'agit ici du seul bateau présenté à Rétromobile, resté entre les mains de son premier propriétaire pendant 52 ans et restauré avec passion dans le respect du savoir-faire Riva. They were singularly sought after in the 1950s and 1960s by all of the international jet set, film stars and the super-rich. The boat, then in a state of a quasi-wreck, was sent to the famous Belgian Riva specialist, the Classic Boats workshop, for a comprehensive restoration with complete disassembly of the hull, restoration of all the woodwork, as well as varnishing with multiple layers, as it should be. In short, this is a work with no cost limits that lasted two years, from 2012 to 2014, when the original engine, too old, was changed to a new GM V8 developing 320 horses. This splendid Riva has seen very little use since, just for occasional events and is "ready to navigate" according to the current owner. It will be delivered, moreover, with its trailer, which will facilitate the transport of this lovely piece to the future purchaser's place.
