Dans les mains d'un propriétaire au Texas de 1970 à 2010 elle a été importée des Etats-Unis fin 2010, puis entièrement restaurée pour le compte de l'actuel depuis 2011, par un spécialiste d'automobiles anciennes. La restauration effectuée, qui a duré près de 3 ans, a été très poussée et n'a laissé aucun poste de côté. La caisse a été décapée puis sablée avant peinture et les tôles abimées remplacées. La mécanique a été revue avec changement de l'arbre à cames, des pistons, de la culasse (convertie au sans plomb), rectification du vilebrequin, ainsi que remise à neuf de l'embrayage, de la transmission et des trains roulants. La sellerie et les diverses garnitures ont été refaites et la capote changée… Des améliorations techniques, comme l'installation d'un allumage électronique, ou la pose d'un cache culbuteur, d'un radiateur, d'un réservoir et de carters inférieurs en aluminium, ont également été effectuées. Au total ce sont ainsi plus de 83700 €, factures à l'appui, qui ont été investis pour la remise en état. En avril 2017, un peu moins de 1600 km après la fin des travaux, une révision pour parfaire le rodage et quelques ajustements a été faite. Aujourd'hui, la voiture qui affiche 2250 km est donc en excellent état. Dans une combinaison de couleurs, " light blue " à flancs " old english white ", mariée à un intérieur cuir, moquettes, capote et couvre capote bleu " imola ", notre BJ8 bénéficie d'une belle présentation et sera livrée avec sa housse de protection, mais elle est surtout prête à rouler. Owned by a collector in Texas between 1970 and 2010, it was imported from the US at the end of 2010 and was then completely restored from 2011 by a classic car specialist on behalf of the actual proprietor. The restoration, which lasted almost 3 years, was very thorough and no stones were left unturned. The bodywork was stripped down and sanded before the paint, and damaged sheets were replaced. The engine was serviced, which included replacement of the camshaft, pistons, cylinder head (converted to unleaded), adjustment of the crankshaft, as well as the restoration of the clutch, transmission and running gear. The upholstery and various fittings have been redone and the hood changed...Technical improvements were also carried out, such as the installation of an electronic ignition, the fitting of a rocker cover, a radiator, a tank and lower crankcase in aluminium. As evidenced by several invoices, more than €83,700 were invested for the restoration. Close to 1,600km after the end of the work, a service and some adjustments were carried out in April 2017 to enhance the running-in. The odometer displays 2,250km today and is in excellent condition.
