En 2008, alors qu'elle est entre les mains d'un amateur de la commune de Fernelmont, dans la région de Namur, elle fait l'objet d'une préparation soignée, dans le but de prendre part à des rallyes historiques. Elle est notamment équipée d'une barre antirapprochement, d'une commande de frein à main hydraulique, d'aménagements intérieurs spécifiques puis, en 2009, d'un arceau OMP conforme aux normes FIA. A l'issue de ces travaux, le Royal Automobile Club of Belgium lui a délivré son attestation belge pour véhicules de compétition, ce qui lui a permis de participer notamment en 2010 au Rallye des Ardennes. En 2011 son propriétaire de Fernelmont, souhaitant faire l'acquisition d'une GTV V6, a cédé cette GTV 2000 à Baudouin Lempereur. Elle est accompagnée d'un dossier comportant de la documentation technique et l'attestation du RACB mentionnée plus haut. Il s'agit d'une voiture permettant de participer à de beaux rallyes sans engager de frais importants, car ses coûts d'utilisation restent raisonnables, ce qui ne l'empêche pas d'être performante et excitante à piloter.
