Provenance Sale Dobiaschofsky, Bern, 4 May 2018, lot 124 where purchased by the present owner Private Collection, Switzerland The present lot is accompanied by an expertise from Dario Succi, dated 22 July 2006, in which he suggests an attribution to Carlo Carliari. Known as Carletto, the artist was the youngest son of Paolo Veronese (1528-1588) and worked in his workshop in Venice. Succi suggests that the present work dates to 1590s when Carletto and his brothers were completing their father's unfinished works. A larger version of the present composition by Paolo Veronse, was formerly in the Collection of Emperor Rudolph II of Prague (1552-1612) and now in the Frick Collection, New York (inv. 1912.1.1.129).
