27. 27W Paire d'encoignures en placage de satiné, bois de rose et amarante attribuées à Jacques-Philippe Carel, d'époque Louis XV A pair of Louis XV ormulu-mounted bois satiné, amaranth marquetery encoignures attributed to Jacques-Philippe Carel, mid-18th century Each with shaped and moulded campan mélangé marble tops above a door richly inlaid with foliate marquetry within ormolu scrolling acanthus encadrement, the interior with a shelf, enriched left and right by further scrolling foliate pierced mounts, above a shaped apron mounted with a rocaille bronze and on short cabriole legs and sabots, some ormolu mounts marked with the 'C' couronné stamp, 84cm wide, 61cm deep, 95cm high (33in wide, 24in deep, 37in high). (2). The 'C' couronné poinçon was a tax mark employed on any alloy containing copper between March 1745 and February 1749. Jacques-Philippe Carel, reçu maître ébéniste in 1723.
