Très grand vase couvert en faience de Delft, Pays-Bas, vers 1740 A very large Dutch Delftware covered vase, circa 1740 De Metaale Pot factory, 1724-1757, the shape and decoration after the Chinese Kangxi example, decorated with alternating lotus-leaf shaped panels of Chinese figures in landscapes and vases of kakiemon flowers, the edge of the cover with the same decoration, on a modern wooden stand, 58cm high, CK for Cornelis Koppens, owner of De Metaale Pot, 1724-1757 (3) Provenance: With Kollenburg Antiquairs, Oirschot (paper label to the base); With Aronson Antiquairs, Amsterdam, where purchased by the present owner Vases of this size are rare survivors of the most opulent interior decoration produced by the Delft potters. The factory of De Metaale Pot was one of the most successful producers of Dutch Delftware. The factory existed on and off for the good part of a century, and was in business from the 1670s. It was listed in the documentary archival record Merken van de Mr Plateelbakkers binnen Delft, 1764, as published by M.S. van Aken-Fehmers (et.al.), Delfts Aardewerk, Geschiedenis an een Nationaal Product, 1999, appendix 4, p. 292.
