Théière couverte en porcelaine de Meissen, vers 1730 A Meissen teapot and cover, circa 1730 Finely painted with European landscape scenes, one side with a Kauffahrtei scene of merchants and their wares by a quayside, the reverse with a Dutch winter scene of a frozen river with figures and buildings on the bank and skaters on the ice, within a gilt quatrelobe scrollwork cartouche filled with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red and purple scrollwork, the gilt-edged handle and spout flanked by indianische Blumen, all below a gilt border of alternating scrollwork and trellis motifs, the domed cover with a continuous harbour landscape and gilt rim and finial, 12.6cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt T. to both (2) Provenance Anon. sale, Bonhams London, 23 May 2012, lot 97; With Brian Haughton Gallery, London; Acquired from the above by the present owner
