Provenance Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner The Space of Experience is one of the most important cycles which laid the 'linguistic' ground for the entire oeuvre of Vladimir Yankilevsky. Created for the most part in pastel on paper or card, the series present an attempt of interpretation and expression of the universal essence through the prism of a human experience. Started in the 1960s, the cycle is created with a language of geometrical forms, lines, vectors and schemes as a part of a visual system of 'the space of experience'. The monochromatic background of the 'space' is divided by the line of horizon which emphasises on the contrast of the earthy, mundane to the cosmic and universal, while the peculiar shapes allude to cosmic energies and forces in everlasting movement creating a fully immersive and meditative experience for the viewer.
