Ecuelle couverte à deux anses en porcelaine de Meissen, circa 1724 A Meissen two-handled ecuelle and cover, circa 1724 Superbly painted, each side with a chinoiserie scene within a gilt scrollwork cartouche flanked by flower vases, baskets and vessels and surmounted by a seated chinoiserie figure flanked by pedestals and vessel below a gilt scrollwork border to the rim, the cover with four similar chinoiserie cartouches and gilt-edged handle and rim, the interior of both with gilt birds and foliage on a Böttger lustre ground 11.5cm high; 13.5cm across handles K.P.M. and crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (some tiny shallow flat rim chips) (2) Provenance: Anon. sale, Christie's Geneva, 10 November 1986, lot 187 An ecuelle and cover of this form, also with a K.P.M. and crossed swords mark and with equally elaborate decoration of monochrome landscape scenes and chinoiserie figures above the cartouches, is in the Porzellansammlung Dresden (inv. no. PE 1486.)
