Duche, mezzotint, 1780s (see British Museum, acc.no. 1877,0811.1323) The present work, Truth Discovering to Time Science Instructing her Children in the Improvements on the Microscope depicts: Truth as the central figure, Time as the old gentleman with the scythe and Science, seated surrounded by children, with her hands on a globe. It was engraved in mezzotint in 1780s and published as the frontispiece of George Adams Essays on the Microscope in 1787.
