Rare et important service à thé et à café en porcelaine de Meissen, vers 1735 A rare and important Meissen tea and coffee service, circa 1735 Each piece of octagonal shape, painted with chinoiserie figures based on the Schulz-Codex in various pursuits, all placed on lustred gilt pedestals of pierced scrollwork and trelliswork enclosing each a medallion with another smaller chinoiserie scene in puce camaieu, the service comprising of: a teapot and cover, a coffee pot and cover, a sugar bowl and cover, a waste bowl, six coffee cups, six teacups and six saucers, the coffee pot and cover: 23.2cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, various impressed Dreher's marks (23) Provenance Baroness Eugène de Rothschild, sold at Sotheby's London, 27th June 1978, lots 4-14; Private Collection, Switzerland, sold at Christie's London, 11 December 2007, lot 37
