A beautiful cased silver mounted double-barrelled gun by Lamotte-Jalabert
dating: mid-19th Century
provenance: France, Smoothbore, two-stage, 17 mm cal. barrels, octagonal and gilded at the first part, then round and blued, eagles and gilded thunderbolts at the girdle, silver foresight with gilded arrow, clutch for the bayonet; forward spring locks with flat plate, signed 'F. Lar Jalabert/Lamotte' and 'St. Etienne', engraved with hunting motifs; elegant, briarwood stock, finely checkered at the grip and the palm rest, carved under the butt; silver mounts decorated with high-relieved, hunting motifs. The butt-plate with a gate for the bayonet (made of iron, with arrest). In their briarwood case, lined with green cloth and provided with all tools and key.
