A chanfron dating: 16th Century provenance: Germany, In iron, of rare 'X'-shape in the central part, finely hammered with Maximilian type groove, made in three, riveted parts. A smooth escutcheon on the front, central part of 'X'-shape with smooth bands, raised and roped central part. Cheek-piece fixed with rivets. Mobile nape-guard fixed with leather strings (restored). Remains of original leather strings inside.
