A cuirassier closed helmet - dating: first quarter of the 17th Century - provenance: Northern Italy, Skull worked in two halves held together by rivets (a few blows on the skull caused other hollows, probably from fighting). Remains of outlines on the surface. Chanfrin with storm brim, the sloping of the brim with round, roped and twisted border. Solid, one-piece ventail with eye holes, solid central rib, air holes on the right side and block hook. The beaver with neck guard fixed with rivets. The hinges of the elements are apparently ancient. The nape-guard is present but detached. The block hook of the beaver is missing. Antique patina with remains of the original, bituminous black dye. Probably untouched condition. Interesting. height circa 35 cm.
