A honor short sword with initials and coat of arms of Leopold II (1797 - 1870) dating: 1848 provenance: Grand Duchy of Tuscany, Wide, straight, double-edged blade with double groove, finely engraved in gold on a blue background with trophies and floral motifs, with the motto 'VIVA L'ITALIA' at the center on an opaque grey background. High-quality, gilded bronze hilt of typical shape. Leather scabbard with gilded brass mounts, cap with monogram 'L II' under crown and between laurel leaves on the right side and with coat of arms under crown with collar of the Golden Fleece on the opposite side, decorated with hearts and floral motifs along the borders, cap with two suspension rings, chape with a shell-shaped knuckle guard. Kept in its white leather case lined with suede (minor defects), on the lid a large gilt bronze crown with border decorated with gold floral imprints. Two closing hooks. length 64.7 cm.
