A Parade full armour for the foot tournament dating: circa 1600 Provenence: North Italy Comprising: Combed Helmet with gorget plates and with two part visor. Almaine collar with spaudlers or munnions attached, peascod breastplate with tassets fixed by straps and bucklers, backplate, arm defences (late Italian vambraces), gauntlets of Italian type, large left pauldron and spaudler-fronted right pauldron (shoulder defences for foot tournament), leg harness and broad sabatons (later replacements). All decorated with etchings, the gilding a later restoration. Lining, including that underneath the pauldrons and inside the cuffs, as well as all internal connecting straps and all other straps and waistbelt of leather are modern replacements. Close Helmet with high-comb, with plume holder. Upper bevor a modern replacement, the collar of two lames is also a modern replacement. Breastplate with sharp pronounced straight central ridge in peascod form with etched medallions enclosing profile busts reminiscent of Roman portraiture. This decorative style was commonly found on armour produced in Milan and Brescia during the last part of the sixteenth century. Gorget in two halves, front and back, rivetted on both sides of the rim are two leather straps for attaching arm defences. Arm defences, comprising a pauldron of seven lames, the upper lame with a rivetted-on buckle for attachment to the leather. The right Pauldron, smaller than the left is a modern replacement. The bigger left Pauldron afforded more protection to the relatively static bridle arm, while the sword arm is left less encumbered. Arm consisting of upper cannon (rerebrace), couter and lower cannon (vambrace). Tassets of seven lames each with buckles for attachment to the straps on Fauld on Breastplate.
