A rare Brass Frame Henry Rifle dating: 1860-66 provenance: USA, Octagonal, rifled, 24', cal. 44 centerfire barrel, with traces of finishing, provided with white metal fore-sight, marked on the back 'HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16. 1860 / MANUFACT'D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN CT.' and with serial number '7xxx'. Core in good conditions with well-defined groove. Foldaway and adjustable rear sight. Tubular magazine, integrated in the barrel (revolving front part, for charging), complete with iron spring and brass lever. Brass frame with rear extractor. In working order. Loading lever complete with locking mechanism, lower tang with stamp 'E'. Walnut butt with iron loop for the strap on the left side (the second loop mounted on magazine's side). Brass butt-plate with gate. A rare, iron, dismountable ramrod inside. A fine example of one of the most sought-after rifles in the field of antique American arms collecting.
