A rare pair of wheel-lock pistols (Puffer) dating: late 16th Century Provenence: Saxony Smoothbore, two-stage, 16 mm cal. barrels, with a faceted ring at the girdle, the first part is octagonal with a Saxon mark, the date “2587” and engraved ends, the second part is round; engraved, curved tangs; external wheel locks with a trigger sliding pan cover, engraved and chiseled cock and spring; wooden blackened full-stocks (repairs) decorated with bone plates engraved with faces (around the tang) and floral motifs, spherical decorations with round silver plate engraved with a warrior among racemes; iron trigger guards, bone-tipped wooden ramrods with iron base.Interesting pair of Puffer pistols for the personal guard of the Saxony princes Christian I and II. condition report: good
