A silver mounted double barrelled flintlock gun from the manufacture of Versailles dating: First Empire provenance: Versailles, Round, smooth-bore, finished, 15 mm cal. barrels, first part with stamps 'M L L D' and with beautiful, gilded engravings with trophies and floral motifs, rib marked 'CANON TORDUE FER DE FAUX', silver fore-sight with golden beams, nozzle with golden frame; iron tang, engraved and with sight; very elegant flintlocks, signed 'MANUFACTURE IMPERIALE', and on the other 'DE VERSAILLES', finely engraved with floral motifs and with anti-friction and sealing systems; wooden, half stock with micro-checkered palm-rest and grip, embossed with in-the-round dragon's head under the butt and floral motifs at the fore-end cap. Beautiful and heavy, silver mounts, finely chiselled, grained and gilded ground. A trophy with eagle and rods on the trigger-guard, butt-plate with arm trophy and floral motifs, fore-end cap with foliage, silver stamps. Butt decorated with silver inlays, portraying garlands, floral motifs and curls. Complete with ramrod. length 132.5 cm.
