The oak body, a miniature version of a typical period chest, is decorated with marquetry of amber inlays and ivory edges. The panels and medallions underneath the amber show floral and figural silver miniatures. Partly the panels are made of opaque amber, the smaller amber panels are of protruding diamond shape. The fine silver fittings and the lock are original with original square nuts and original hinges. The chest is decorated on all sides as well as on the base and in the interior. A decorative and rare collector's piece catering to the taste of the time. The chest is mostly in original condition. There is little surface damage with signs of age and some losses.
