An extraordinary gun from the property of king John and the emperors Peter I and Peter II of Brazil Dating: first quarter of the 19th Century Provenence: Brazil Fine two-stage, smoothbore barre, with rings and floral-patterned carvings at the girdle, the octagonal part is marked »REAL FABRICA DA CONCEICAO DO R.o DE JANR.o ANNO DE 1813», on the base are marks by Joao Baptista (Brazilian Court gunsmith), at the end of the first part and around the foresight are gilded decorations with floral motifs, a saddle silver sight on engraved leaves, 16 mm cal.; on the tang are beautiful flower-patterned engravings on a gilded background; outstanding flintlock with the same stamp as the barrel, engraved and gilded with floral motifs and outlined at the borders; square batterie marked »JOAO BAPTISTA R.o DE JANR.o 1813»; elegant reddish wooden stock, finely engraved around the tang and grooved at the stock; silver mounts with fine floral-patterned engravings; on the trigger guard are the crowned Brazilian coat of arms, the tip is vase-shaped; on the guard are the initials of Peter I underneath the Brazilian Imperial Crown and the serial no. of the personal hunting armory of Peter I, »N° 5»; iron barrel bracket and ivory tiped wooden ramrod. In great conditions, with the only exception of a small chip at the stock's mouth. One of the finest existing Imperial Brazilian guns. Extraordinary gun called «The Three Emperors Gun» because it belonged to John VI of the United Kingdom of Portugal, to Peter IV's son self-proclaimed Emperor Peter I of Brazil, and to Peter II, last ruler of the Empire.
