One of the touch points of this watch is although it is complicated it remains very thin, based on the extremely thin Jaeger-LeCoultre Cal.920 automatic movement, the perpetual mechanism is added as a layer or module under the 'Opaline' dial. The current lot is a reference 25554ST and was produced in a very limited number of examples. As referenced in Audemars Piguet 20th Century Complicated Watches, p.231, of the 279 made, only 49 were in steel, 229 in yellow gold, 0 in two-tone, 1 in platinum, and 0 in pink gold. The current example, executed in steel is a low number so would have been amongst the first to be produced. This example would be a fantastic piece to have in any collection.
