BAGA SHOULDER MASK 94 cm. high Provenienz Ernst Ascher, Paris Parke-Bernet, New York, 31 January 1963, lot 120 Mrs. Sheldon M. Tucker, Houston After Mrs Sheldon Tucker purchased this lot in the Parke-Bernet sale in 1963 she received a letter shortly afterwards from Ernst Ascher from the Rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris to congratulate her on her purchase. He wrote “I am very pleased to know that you bought the large Nimba figure. We had that piece direct from Africa, as almost all the sculptures we have now.” He went on to invite her to visit him on her next trip to Paris in order to inspect more possible items for her collection.
