BANKSY (British Street Artist, b. 1974) ‘Two Rats With Saw’ (2003) Aerosol Spray Paint Stencil on Particle Board Size: 49 x 62 cm (24 3/8 x 19 ¾ in) (Unique) CONDITION Excellent and Authentic (Please refer to department for Condition report) DESCRIPTION - This stencilled Art Work, produced by Banksy’s shows two monochrome rats, handling a ‘Two Man Crosscut Saw’. The images of those two rats are unique and for so far not used on any other stencil of Banksy. PROVENANCE - Acquired from Banksy’s first business partner and investor Jon Swinstead, who was co-founder of ‘Pictures on Walls’. Mr Swinstead worked with Banksy for several years and shared an office/studio with him. The work is accompanied by a copy of a signed letter from Jon Swinstead, confirming the above. The present owner bought ‘Two Rats With Saw’ directly from Jon Swinstead in London. In the letter, Mr. Swinstead wrote: “When we parted company he (Banksy) left these test sprays in his office, he didn´t want them. They were by him and not others”. - Private Collection
