Elle est plus petite que la boussole reglementaire, diametre de 4,5cm. Le texte grave au dos evoque le vainqueur de la bataille de Verdun alors quil etait encore general. Boussole non fonctionnelle. Cette boussole faisait partie des cadeaux fait par le General Petain a ses soldats lors de la Grande Guerre. Small brass compass engraved on the reverse with the inscription Souvenir du General Petain. This miniature field compass was manufactured by HOULLIOT and is smaller than the regulation model. Diameter 4.5 cm. The engraved text refers to the Marshal’s role in the Battle of Verdun when he was still a general. Non-functional. This type of compass was among the gifts distributed by General Petain to soldiers during the Great War.
