Consulted with Professor Jaromir Zemina and Dr Jiri Machalicky. Expertise by Dr Michael Zachar attached. The famous Croatian painter Vlaho Bukovac was a native of a small town Cavtat. He is the renowned author of late Impressionism, Symbolism and Art Nouveau, who had a special relationship with Prague and many czech artists - especially with Jan Dedina, who organized Bukovac's posthumous exhibition in Prague in June 1925, where exposed 178 of his oil paintings and many of its paintings got to the hands of significant private collectors in Prague. Bukovac, after a hard start in America, came to the Paris Academy in 1877, where he was under prof. Alexander Cabanel. After a while he met there with czech painters Vaclav Brozik and Vojtech Hynais, with whom became close friends and together created permanent friendship. Thematically, first he was focused on allegorical creation of large figural compositions in an arcadically buoyant landscape, where concentrated on the history and present of the Balkan countries. Soon he succeeded in the Salon de Paris, the world's leading art platform determining artistic success or perdition. He began to mix the colors by himself, and in the years of its maturity became a very original authorial of the colors of mauve, orange and red. Strengthening by the pointillist brush technique and peculiar color harmonies around 1900, he became the sovereign artist whose works were highly valued. In 1903 Bukovac came to Prague, where he received a one-year contract, which was then extended in the long term. Bukovac liked reading, loved watching the stars especially on his private balcony of the apartment on Ovenecka Street in Letna, where he observed the celestial harmony. Between 1903 and 1909 he worked out and improved his artistic technique and expression to the master perfection. The musicality of his lyrical works suggests positive impressions from music by Gounod or Massenet, whose works has numerous parallels with the tuning of Bukovac's art. The girl in the orange scarf is a chamber, but magnificent image that presents all the cited virtues of Bukovac painting, especially richness of the colors and harmonious inner expression.
