*BUREAU-PLAT «A L'ASTRONOMIE», Louis XVI style by F. LINKE (François Linke, 1855-1946), after designs by J.H. RIESENER (Jean-Henri Riesener, Maitre 1768), Paris circa 1890. Tulipwood, rosewood and partly dyed precious woods in veneer and finely inlaid with depictions of Urania and globe, flanked by Kalliope with further allegories and emblems. The top edged in bronze moulding, with fine pyramid legs, a central drawer opening with push button mechanism, and the same but sham arrangment verso. With exceptionally rich gilt bronze mounts, applications and sabots. 124x63x78 cm. Provenance: from an English collection.
