Note: From one of Mackintosh's largest and most important commissions, Catherine Cranston's Argyle Street tea room, this stand is an early example of the 1897 design. At present, only four other examples of stands from the Argyle tea room are known. Accompanying this lot is a copy of Charles Rennie Mackintosh: The Complete Furniture, Drawings, & Interior Designs by Roger Billcliffe, 2009, in which the author believes this piece is the one pictured on p. 64 Condition: Two replaced umbrella brackets and one replaced drip pan. Edge piece missing from top board. Overall good original finish, some water stains and wear at base.
