Jeune homme allongé sur une kliné (lit de banquet) et jouant au cottabe (jeu d'adresse consistant à faire tourner une coupe autour de son index). Lui faisant face, une femme vêtue d'une tunique coure et d'un pantalon. Elle porte une situle et joue avec le jeune homme assis. Eros au dessus de la scène et un homme nu portant une torche et un thyrse à la droite. Fronton de temple dans le champ. Face B : Jeune homme nu debout, tenant ciste et thyrse, faisant face à une jeune femme drapée assise, tenant une phiale et un rameau, h. 43,8 cmRemarque : sans être définitif et du moins concernant la période de réalisation pour ce cratère : notamment au vu du type de scène, de la disposition des personnages, ou du choix et du traitement de certains vêtements, le travail de peinture est à mettre en parallèle avec celui du Peintre d'Hippolyte ou à un membre du Groupe de Berlin-Branca. Un détail pourrait permettre d'affiner une attribution plus précise : les deux visages vus de trois-quarts du jeune homme assis et de la jeune femme en pantalon devant lui. Le rendu y est peu commun et de la même main pour les deux. Les éléments du visage sont très regroupés, les mâchoires fortes, et les regards concentrés Une attitude plutôt singulière s'en dégage et procure une certaine intensité émotionnelle entre les deux protagonistes, probablement résultant du jeu pratiqué. Side B: Naked young man standing, holding cistus and thyrse, facing draped young woman seated, holding phiale and twig, h. 43.8 cmNote: without being definitive, and at least concerning the period of production for this crater: particularly in view of the type of scene, the arrangement of the figures, or the choice and treatment of certain garments, the painting work should be compared to that of the Painter of Hippolytus or to a member of the Berlin-Branca Group. One detail could help to refine a more precise attribution: the two faces seen from three quarters of the young man seated and the young woman in trousers in front of him. The rendering is unusual and in the same hand for both. The elements of the face are very grouped, the jaws strong, and the looks concentrated. A rather singular attitude emerges and provides a certain emotional intensity between the two protagonists, probably resulting from the game being played.
