Croix de commandeur de l’Ordre Militaire de Savoie. Croix pattée émaillée de blanc, centrée d’un médaillon portant les armes de Savoie, une croix blanche sur fond rouge, entouré de la devise Al Merito Militare. La décoration est suspendue à un ruban de soie moirée bleue, portée en sautoir autour du cou. Elle symbolise l’honneur et la valeur militaire au service du royaume de Sardaigne, puis du royaume d’Italie après l’unification. L’Ordre militaire de Savoie fut institué en 1815 par le roi Victor-Emmanuel Ier afin de récompenser les officiers qui s’étaient distingués par leur bravoure et leur mérite au combat.
