Extra rare Russian Pavlovsky Grenadier Regiment Officer's Miter Cap, late 19th century. The grenadier cap of the Life Guards Pavlovsky Regiment is a traditional high "mitre" with a red top and a white cloth band, with a forehead band made of gilded brass, on which almost the entire surface is occupied by a relief embossed image of a two-headed Russian eagle - the state emblem. Applied enameled Saint Andrew order star badge and silver ribbon commemorating the battle at Gornyi-Dubnyak, 12 October 1877. Red wool bag trimmed with silver braiding above a white wool band. The strap is decorated with "scales" consisting of alternating brass plates secured to the leather of the belt with brass wire, and a brass tip with a clasp. The national cockade is affixed behind the chin scales on the right side. Complete with the officer’s pattern silver bullion pompom with the cipher of Nicholas II. Interior has officer’s pattern leather sweatband and red cotton liner. Very rare artifact of the Russian Empire in excellent condition. Height 35 cm.
