Finalizing, in contrast to its two predecessors 365 GT4 BB and 512 BB, the BBi was fitted with a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Thus the BBi was still the same by means of mechanics, except for the omission of the 512 BB’s WEBER triple carburetor. Minimal modifications for the development into the model with fuel injection were undertaken (rear bumper, wheels, black exterior mirrors). As standard, all Ferrari 512 BBi were equipped with air conditioning and central locking system. After producing a total of 1,007 vehicles, the mid-engine era of the Berlinetta Boxer, introduced in 1971 as 365 GT4 BB, ended. The vehicle was delivered on 31st of January 1983 by the German authorized dealer Auto König in Regensburg. It was only driven in Germany and to this day never exported. In total, only 4 German previous holders were proud owners of this 512 BBi. Due to the old vehicle registration document, the individual holders and ownership transitions are fully traceable. (from 1983 to 1987 in Frankfurt, from 1987 to 1988 in Murnau / Bavaria, 1988 in Loerrach and from 1988 to 1990 in Munich). On 20th June 1990, the vehicle was eventually signed off and decommissioned. For many years, the prestigious ‘Fahrzeug- und Kunstmuseum Streicher’ was home of the Chassis 44661. Only in 2015 the owner decided to sell the car. The engine and the rest of the technology are still running perfectly after all these years. Nevertheless, it was now time to carry out a large inspection of the car including a timing belt replacement and an exchange of various wear parts. All work was operated extremely precisely in August 2015 at Mertel Italo Cars (official Ferrari distributors). Only a few BBi present themselves today with a verifiable history, German delivery and complete books and tools including the original servicebook.
