FRANCE - FRANCE Consulat (1799-1804). Essai de 20 francs Bonaparte, Premier Consul, à la tranche ornementée, par P.-J. Tiolier, Frappe spéciale (SP) An XI (1802-1803), A, Paris. Av. BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL. Tête nue à gauche, au-dessous signature Tiolier. Rv. REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Dans une couronne formée de deux branches : 20 FRANCS. Au-dessous ·(différent)· AN (date) ·(atelier)·. G.- (cf. 1020) - Maz.- - TT.- (cf. 1064) et voir page 512 (outillage de tranche) ; Or - 21 mm - 6 h Top Pop : c’est le seul exemplaire gradé ! Provient probablement de la collection du roi Farouk d’Égypte, vente Sotheby’s février 1954, n° 511 (lot) puis possiblement vente É. Bourgey, 18 juin 1974, n° 290 (la photographie de moulage en plâtre ne permet pas l’identification précise) puis vente Glendining / Baldwin “Napoleonic coins & Medals”, 23 février 1977, n° 25 (plate III) et enfin de la collection R. Margolis, vente Stack’s Bowers, août 2024, session E, n° 43327 acheté chez A. H. Baldwin à Londres le 3 février 1978. PCGS SP65+CAM (50398138). Frappe spéciale (SP) aux champs miroir et reliefs satinés, d’aspect camée (CAM). La tranche de cet essai est ornée d’une frise de diamants et de boucles dont l’outillage reste conservé à la Monnaie de Paris (Le Franc, napoléon, p.512). D’une couleur d’or tirant sur le vert avec d’infimes marques de manipulation. Exemplaire de présentation d’une qualité exceptionnelle et d’intérêt muséal : c’est l’unique essai en Or de la 20 francs germinal An XI, par Pierre-Joseph Tiolier lui-même. (フランス共和国) 」 二本の木枝を組んだ冠の内側に額面「20 FRANCS」、その下にプリヴィマーク、 革命暦年号、ミントマーク G.- (cf. 1020) - Maz.- - TT.- (cf. 1064) さらにp.512 (エッジ刻印用の道具) ; Gold - 21 mm - 6 h. Baldwinで購入(1978/2/3) PCGS SP65+CAM 特別鋳造 (SP) 鏡面のフィールドにサテン状のレリーフ、カメオ仕上げ この試鋳貨のエッジにはダイヤとループのモチーフの浮彫装飾が施されており、それに使用された道具は今もパリ造幣局が保管(『Le Franc, napoléon』p.512)。緑に近い金色 ごくわずかなアタリ 非常に高品質で、博物館に所蔵されるほどの価値ある一枚。ピエール=ジョゼフ・ティオリエ氏自らの打刻による、革命暦11年ジェルミナル(芽月) 20フラン試鋳金打貨、唯一品 完全未使用 FRANCE Consulate (1799-1804). 20 franc Bonaparte, First Consul, pattern with ornamental edge, by P.-J. Tiolier, Special Strike (SP) An XI (1802-1803), A, Paris. Obverse: BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL. Bare head facing left, below signature Tiolier. Reverse: FRENCH REPUBLIC. In a wreath formed of two branches: 20 FRANCS. Below ·(different)· AN (date) ·(mint mark)·. G.- (cf. 1020) - Maz.- - TT.- (cf. 1064) and see page 512 (edge tools) ; Gold - 21 mm - 6 h. Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! Probably from the collection of King Farouk of Egypt, Sotheby's auction February 1954, no. 511 (lot), then possibly É. Bourgey auction, 18 June 1974, no. 290 (the photograph of the plaster cast does not allow for precise identification), then Glendining auction / Baldwin ‘Napoleonic coins & Medals’ sale, 23 February 1977, no. 25 (plate III) and finally from the R. Margolis collection, Stack's Bowers auction, August 2024, session E, no. 43327 purchased from A. H. Baldwin in London on 3 February 1978 PCGS SP65+CAM. Special strike (SP) with mirror fields and satin relief, cameo appearance (CAM). The edge of this pattern is decorated with a diamonds and loops, the tools for which are still kept at the Monnaie de Paris (Le Franc, napoléon, p.512). Greenish-gold in colour with very slight signs of handling. A presentation specimen of exceptional quality and museum interest: this is the only gold trial coin of the 20 francs germinal An XI, by Pierre-Joseph Tiolier himself.
