Darauf leicht konischer Korpus mit Schweifwerk, Fruchtbündeln und Adlern auf punziertem Grund. Dazwischen drei hochovale Kartuschen, oben von Groteskenmaskarons gehalten mit großfigurigen weiblichen Akten als Allegorien. Von links nach rechts eine junge Frau unter Apfelbaum, mit einem Fruchtkorb zu ihren Füßen, in der Mittelkartusche eine junge Frau als Rückenakt mit Kornähren in ihrem Arm und schließlich in der dritten Kartusche eine Frau mit Weinlaub als Haarschmuck und einem Weinkelch sowie einer Kanne in Händen. Auf dem Scharnierdeckel wieder entsprechendes Schweifwerk, Vögel und Früchte, sowie kleinen Kartuschen mit Landschaftsansichten. Der Knauf in Form des Heiligen Georgs gegen den Drachen kämpfend und die Daumenruh in Volutenform mit Perlzier. Großer C-Henkel mit Gravurdekor und Wappenschild als unteren Abschluß. Ca. 810g. Der bedeutende Augsburger Silberschmied Paul Hübner ist vor allem für seine berühmten Serien von Kredenzen, heute im Palazzo Pitti in Florenz und dem British Museum in London, bekannt. Die Bildprogramme auf diesen Kredenzen umfassen Monatsdarstellungen, Allegorien der Tugenden und der Elemente sowie alttestamentarische Szenen. Wie Ingrid Weber in ihrem Artikel nachgewiesen hat, verwendete Hübner als Vorlage für seine Monatsdarstellungen die Kupferstichfolge der Monate von Adriaen Collaert nach Hans Bol (Weber, 1970, S.332ff.). Er setzte sie allerdings nicht sklavisch eins zu eins um, sondern veränderte und ergänzte sie, indem er Motive von Stichen aus anderer Hand mit der Hauptvorlage verschmolz. Dieser freie Umgang ermutigt nun, die drei weiblichen Akte auf dem hier vorliegenden Vermeil Humpen ebenfalls als Darstellungen von Monaten zu interpretieren. On domed base a decorative frieze with fruits among dolphins and water snakes. On it a slightly conical body with scrollwork, bundles of fruit, and eagles on punched ground. Between them three upright oval cartouches, held by grotesque mascarons at the top with large female nudes as allegories: From left to right a young woman underneath an apple tree, a basket of fruits at her feet, in the central cartouche a young nude from behind holding ears of corn, and in the third cartouche a woman with vine leaves in her hair, a goblet of wine and a jug in hand. As an important silversmith from Augsburg, Paul Hübner is particularly known for his famous suites of presentoirs now at Palazzo Pitti in Florence and the British Museum in London. The images on these presentoirs comprise representations of months, allegories of the virtues and of the elements, as well as scenes from the Old Testament. As Ingrid Weber has shown in her article, Hübner's months were inspired by the copperplate engravings of Adriaen Collaert after Hans Bol (Weber, 1970, pp.332ff.). Rather than slavishly adhering to these models he sought to modify and complement them by adding elements from engravings by other artists. This liberal approach encourages the beholder of the tankard at hand to interpret the three female nudes similarly as representations of months. Following the suite of engravings of the months - each of which depicts harvest scenes according to the respective month - the nude underneath the apple tree would represent September, the nude viewed from behind with ears of corn August, and the one with a goblet and barrel would stand for October.
