Innerhalb eines solchen institutionellen Rahmens präsentiert Förg das Malerische als Beweis und Spur seiner Existenz. It is as part of this institutional context that Förg uses the art of painting to prove his existence and to leave traces. In Förg’s rendering, the traditional two-step of design and execution changes its rhythm to become the cadence of concept and the artist’s presence as it is inscribed into that concept. The art of painting does not remain simply a pictorial representation, it turns into something like an expression of a different kind because the process of painting as such expresses the artist’s presence in his work.”
