Thematically and compositionally the painting seems to be related to the same subject with Jordaen's work of the Holy Family in the Hanover State Museum, as well as a work auctioned at Christie's in 1994. In addition to the central figure of the Mother of God and Child, Saint Joseph, John the Baptist and Saint Anne especially the angel above the family in the backround, is also found in the composition. The cat on the left can also found in a preliminary study auctioned at Christie's in London 2007 and assigned to Jordaens (RKD illustration number: 0000271181). Thematisch und kompositorisch scheint die hier angebotene Komposition mit Jordaens Gemälde der Heiligen Familie im Landesmuseum Hannover, sowie eine 1994 im Auktionshaus Christie's versteigerte Arbeit mit dem gleichen Thema in Verbindung zu stehen. Neben der zentralen Figur der Gottesmutter und dem Christusknaben, dem Heilgen Josef, Johannes dem Täufer und der Heiligen Anna findet sich in dieser, hier angebotenen Komposition, insbesondere auch der Engel, der im Bildhintergrund die Familie überragt, wieder. Auch die Katze links ist in einer bei Christie's in London 2007 versteigerten und Jordaens zugewiesenen Vorstudie (RKD Illustrationsnummer: 0000271181) wiederzufinden.
