Ouvrage collectif commandé et imprimé par la Ville de Paris, avec un tirage total de 200 exemplaires. Celui ci porte le numéro 87. Il a toujours été d'usage que la Ville de Paris fasse un présent au nouveau chef de l'Etat. C'est la raison de la création de cet ouvrage dont tous les exemplaires sont été remis au cabinet du Maréchal qui les a distribué en cadeau avec différentes qualités de reliures ou d'emboitages suivant l'importance ou le rang du récipiendaire.
