Provenance: Estate of Richard Morris Hunt (1827-1895) by descent. Hunt was one of the most prominent American architects of the 19th century, "Gilded Age". After Hunt's death, French was commissioned to create a monument which included the full-scale versions of these two bronzes (located at Fifth Avenue and East 70th Street across from the Frick Museum).
