(lot of 2) Daniel Chester French (American, 1850-1931), Allegorical Maquettes ("Architecture, Painting, and Sculpture") - Richard Morris Hunt Memorial (New York City, New York), circa 1898-99, pair of bronze sculpture, each initialed "DCF" and dated lower left base, foundry mark (Roman Bronze Works, New York) lower back base, overalls: 12.25"h x 4"w x 3"d. Provenance: Estate of Richard Morris Hunt (1827-1895) by descent. Hunt was one of the most prominent American architects of the 19th century, "Gilded Age". After Hunt's death, French was commissioned to create a monument which included the full-scale versions of these two bronzes (located at Fifth Avenue and East 70th Street across from the Frick Museum).
