Dans le corridor, transformé en une «rue surréaliste», seize mannequins habillés par les artistes avaient été installés contre le mur. Ces mannequins sont des objets surréalistes à mi-chemin entre l'animé et l'inanimé. Man Ray coiffe le sien d'ampoules tandis que le corps est laissé nu à l'exception des hanches, cernées d'un ruban portant l'inscription « adieu foulard». Des perles de verre disposées aux coins des yeux et au niveau des aisselles, ne sont pas sans évoquer les Larmes (lot n°128) : «Je laissai mon mannequin nu, avec des larmes de verre sur le visage et des bulles de savon en verre dans les cheveux.» In the winter of 1938, the International Exhibition of Surrealism was held at the Galerie des Beaux-arts in Paris. In the corridor, transformed into a «surrealist street», sixteen mannequins dressed by the artists were installed against a wall. These mannequins are surrealist objects halfway between the animate and the inanimate. Man Ray crowned them with light bulbs while the body was left naked except for the hips, surrounded by a ribbon bearing the inscription «farewell scarf».
