Its strong four-cylinder engine was practically impossible to wear out. Nine body types were offered and prices ranged from 2 850 to 5 980 Reichsmark for the A-model. The Type 170 V was also the starting point of the post-1945 production and of the rebirth of the marque. Rolf Meyer's car # 155 838 lived a sort of fairy tale. Il was delivered as new at the Warner Bros. Company in New York on the 16 February 1937. This important production company wanted to use it in a spectacular film starring Mae West and Clark Gable, then at the top. After the film Clark Gable bought back the car and presented it to one of his friends, a script-girl at the Warner Bros. Co. Years after a Hungarian aristocrat who had escaped from his invaded country found the derelict 170 V in bad condition in a corner of a studio. He bought the car for 100 dollars and started a 16-year restoration process helped by some professional friends. In 1990 he was obliged to sell his beautiful car after divorcing Princess Marischka von Scegedin. Then he went back to Hungary. This car became the property of Rolf Meyer. This Mercedes is finished in red with black hood, beige leather upholstery, white steering wheel and a chrome-plated spare wheel cover.
