It was another top-of-the-range model alongside the 300 to which it was closely related, but using a 150 mm shorter wheelbase. The new type was fast and sporty, the sportiest Mercedes model until the introduction of the 300 SL. The 300 S had a tuned 3-carburettor engine giving 150 bhp and a 175 kph (110 mph) top speed. In September 1955, a new 300 S was introduced alongside the 300 C at Frankfurt. The new 300 S had a new injection-fed engine giving 175 bhp. This 300 Sc had received more brightwork, larger indicators and the logo "Einspritzmotor" on the boot lid. Production which amounted only to 200 cars was phased out in April 1958. The 300 S and Sc remain the most exclusive Mercedes of the post-war era. They are the most sought after. The car for sale looks like a cabriolet A with its vinyl-covered roof. The body is finished in dark blue. The grey leather upholstery is original and in good condition. The woodwork is made of mahogany. Two special suitcases find room in the boot. This is another car having been restored from the bare chassis. The clock reads 64 291 km (40 180 miles). One can notice that the chassis number of this car is just preceding the number of the 300 Sc Cabriolet A of the sale.
